Fluorouracil (FLU-3) is a potential antineoplastic drug that can be used to treat various types of cancer. It is an efficient drug and has been shown to produce significant decreases in the volume of human tumors, including blood vessel size and tumor number. FLU-3 is not active against all types of cancer cells, such as small cell lung cancer or testicular carcinoma. However, it was found to be effective against many other types of cancers and may be used to treat patients with these cancers. The safety and efficacy of FLU-3 has been validated in animal studies, as well as through clinical trials in humans.
FLU-3 is administered orally for both adults and children. In order to determine the plasma concentration of this drug following oral administration, a chromatographic method was developed that was able to detect FLU-3 in human urine samples from patients with kidney or bladder cancer.
