Amonafide is a basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) cyclic peptide that has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of renal cell cancer cells. It also has anti-cancer properties, including inhibiting the viability of cancer cells and preventing angiogenesis. Amonafide inhibits the mitochondrial membrane potential of both normal and cancer cells, which leads to a decrease in ATP synthesis. Amonafide is chemically stable at high temperatures, making it an ideal candidate for use in hyperproliferative diseases such as cancer.
