Descripción

6-Amino-2-(fluoromethyl)-3-(2-methylphenyl)-quinazolin-4-one is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase, which is required for the synthesis of DNA and other macromolecules. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cutaneous lesions in mice and rats. The compound has also been found to be effective against renal lesions (caused by cevimeline hydrochloride) in rats. The compound has a high inhibitory dose as it binds tightly with divalent metal ions such as magnesium, calcium, and zinc. This property may result in its use as an anticancer drug.
6-Amino-2-(fluoromethyl)-3-(2-methylphenyl)-quinazolin-4-one is soluble in water and polymeric matrices and can be administered orally or intravenously.
