11-Aminoundecanoic acid is a fatty ester that is chemically classified as a group P2 potent inducer. It has been shown to induce the production of cationic surfactant in vitro and in vivo assays. 11-Aminoundecanoic acid also has the ability to participate in intermolecular hydrogen bonding, which may account for its high water-binding properties. This molecule is soluble in water and acetate extract with a neutral pH, but insoluble at higher pH values. 11-Aminoundecanoic acid can be used as a test sample for evaluating fatty acids in vivo.
