Descripción:Azetidine is an organic compound that is a member of the cyclopentene oxide family. It inhibits the enzyme histidine decarboxylase, which catalyzes the conversion of histidine to histamine in the body. Azetidine also binds to receptors for amines and has been found to have anti-cancer properties. Azetidine is synthesized by reacting copper with aziridine. The synthesis of this molecule is not straightforward and requires a number of steps, including asymmetric synthesis and kinetic energy transfer from copper to aziridine. Azetidine can be used as a precursor for penaresidin, a cancer drug that prevents cells from producing proteins essential for cell division, leading to cell death by apoptosis or necrosis.
