4-Amino-N,N-dimethylbenzylamine is a solvent that is used in the production of polymers. It is also an organic solvent with a profile that ranges from non-polar to polar. The reaction system of this compound can be either homogeneous or heterogeneous. 4-Amino-N,N-dimethylbenzylamine has been shown to react with dimethylformamide in the presence of sodium carbonate and ammonium chloride to form 4-(4'-nitrophenyl)diazenyl aminobenzene, which is carcinogenic. This compound has been shown to have anti-cancer properties and may be useful for the treatment of cancer cells.
