3-Amino-4-chloro-benzenesulfonic acid (3ACBS) is a water treatment chemical that is used to remove organic contaminants from wastewater. 3ACBS binds to amino groups on the surface of organic molecules and forms stable complexes with them. The complexed compounds are then removed from the wastewater by osmosis or electrodialysis. 3ACBS has been shown to be effective in removing amines, sulfonic acids, sulfoxides, and other related compounds. 3ACBS can also be used for sample preparation techniques such as gas chromatography or electrospray ionization mass spectrometry.
