2-Amino-4-methylbenzothiazole is a molecule that contains a nitrogen atom and has been shown to cause cancer in laboratory animals. It is synthesized by the reaction of hydrochloric acid with 2-amino-5-methylbenzothiazole and can be isolated from a hydroxide solution. 2-Amino-4-methylbenzothiazole has not been found to have any toxic effects in humans. The synthesis of this molecule was studied using molecular modeling techniques, which showed that the nitrogen atom coordinates to two hydrogen atoms in an intermolecular hydrogen bond and forms stable complexes with the proton on the other end of the molecule. This type of bonding may be responsible for the activation energies observed in chemical reactions involving this molecule. More research is needed to determine if 2-amino-4-methylbenzothiazole is carcinogenic, or if it has potential as an antiangiogenic drug or antic
