Acid Blue 9 is a reactive dye that is used in the textile industry. It has been shown to decrease photosynthetic activity and cause long-term toxicity in aquatic organisms, although it has not been found to be toxic to humans. Acid Blue 9 adsorbs onto surfaces of wastewater treatment plants and may be responsible for the degradation of enzyme activities. Acid Blue 9 is often used as an analytical method for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
