2-Aminoquinazoline is a hydrogen-bonded, hydrophobic molecule that was found to be an efficient method to synthesize 2-aminoquinazoline derivatives. The compound has been shown to inhibit glutamate receptor subtype, which may lead to the treatment of cancer. 2-Aminoquinazolines are also allosteric modulators of metabotropic glutamate receptors and have neurodevelopmental effects. They can be used as research tools for studying the function of these receptors and their possible involvement in neurodegenerative diseases.
