• Descripción: N-Acetylspermidine dihydrochloride is a polyamine oxidase inhibitor that has been shown to be useful in the treatment of cancer. It inhibits the synthesis of ornithine and N-acetylornithine, which are intermediates in polyamine biosynthesis. Inhibition of polyamine biosynthesis may lead to a decrease in cellular proliferation and an increase in apoptosis. The effect of this drug on human tissues has been studied using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). This drug also inhibits the activity of human urine decarboxylase, leading to a decrease in urinary excretion of ornithine and increased urinary excretion of putrescine.
