Ala-Ala-Phe-pNA (AAFP) is a synthetic peptide that has been shown to inhibit serine proteases. It consists of three subunits, each containing an amino acid sequence with a common backbone: Ala-Ala-Phe. This peptide's chemical structure mimics the natural substrate for serine protease enzymes, and it can be used as a competitive inhibitor in chemical reactions or enzyme assays. The AAFP peptide inhibits the activity of serine proteases by binding to the active site of these enzymes, thereby preventing the formation of an enzyme-substrate complex.
