Ac-Lys(Boc)-OH is a modified form of lysine that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of cancer. It is a traceless, hyaluronic acid-based drug that can be administered orally. Ac-Lys(Boc)-OH binds to the immunoproteasome and inhibits its function in mammalian cells. This binding prevents the degradation of TNF-α and IL-1β, which are cytokines that are involved in cancer progression. Ac-Lys(Boc)-OH also has an effect on acidic ph, cisplatin resistance, and mammalian cell proliferation. Ac-Lys(Boc)-OH is a substrate for the catalytic subunit of protein kinase C (PKC), which leads to changes in cell morphology and gene expression patterns.
