2-Aminoethylmethylsulfone Hydrochloride is a compound that has been synthesized for use in cancer research. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of lung cancer cells and potent inhibitory activity against mutant forms of dihydrofolate reductases, which are enzymes involved in folate metabolism. 2-Aminoethylmethylsulfone Hydrochloride also inhibits the synthesis of DNA and protein, suggesting its potential use as a chemotherapeutic agent. Further studies have shown that it inhibits the growth of tumor cell lines, suggesting its potential use as an anti-cancer agent. The synthesis of 2-Aminoethylmethylsulfone Hydrochloride is achieved through the chlorination of ethylene oxide with sulfuric acid. This reaction produces chloroethane sulfonic acid (CES), which is then hydrolyzed with sodium hydroxide to form CES hydrochloride and hydrogen chloride gas. The CES hydrochloride is then reacted
