Ammonium tetrachloroplatinate(II) is a hydrogen-bonded molecule that belongs to the group P2 of molecules. It has been shown to have cytostatic effects on cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Ammonium tetrachloroplatinate(II) has a weak light emission, which is due to the presence of nitrogen atoms. The molecule can be used as a component for the preparation of nanoparticulate compositions, which are more effective than conventional drugs. This organometallic compound can be synthesized by reacting ammonium chloride with platinum hexahydrate and hydrochloric acid at room temperature.
