Descripción

Glycolide is a cyclic oligomer of glycol that is biodegradable and biocompatible. It is used as a diagnostic agent for the detection of proteins, nucleic acids, and cells in biological fluids and tissues. Glycolide has been used to coat biomaterials to improve their surface properties. Glycolide can also be copolymerized with other macromolecules (e.g., poly(ethylene glycol)) to produce fluorescent or spatially-resolved materials that are useful in biomedical diagnostics and tissue engineering applications.
