Allyltriethoxysilane is a molecule that has a hydrochloric acid functional group. It is biocompatible and can be synthesized by reacting allyl chloride with anhydrous hydrochloric acid. Allyltriethoxysilane is reactive, which means that it reacts readily with other substances. The thermal expansion coefficient of allyltriethoxysilane is about 10-4/°C, which makes it suitable for use in biomedical applications. This polymer can be used as a substrate film for the synthesis of magnetic nanoparticles. Allyltriethoxysilane has been found to be useful in the synthesis of superparamagnetic iron oxide particles by hydrogen fluoride or solid catalyst.
