2-Amino-N,N-dimethylacetamide (2-DMA) is a molecule that has been shown to inhibit tyrosine kinase enzyme activity. It binds to the protein active site and prevents ATP from binding. 2-DMA has been shown to be effective in a variety of enzymatic assays. In addition, 2-DMA has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in human cells by blocking cell proliferation and inducing apoptosis. The inhibition of tyrosine kinase enzymes by 2-DMA may be due to its ability to reduce the amount of sulfhydryl groups on the enzyme. This leads to an increase in free sulfhydryls which can react with other functional groups, such as amines, nitrogens, or carboxyls.
