Descripción:3-Amino-4-chlorobenzonitrile is a diamidine that is used in the manufacture of dyes and pharmaceuticals. The salt form of 3-amino-4-chlorobenzonitrile is soluble in water and most organic solvents. It has been shown to be effective as an antihypertensive agent, although it has not been approved for this use. The substituent on the benzene ring can affect its solubility and biological activity. 3-Amino-4-chlorobenzonitrile can react with sulphonic acids to form aqueous solutions, which are stable at high temperatures. This reaction may also occur with organic acids such as acetic acid or citric acid. 3-Amino-4-chlorobenzonitrile reacts with hydrogen chloride in solution to produce hydrochloric acid, which can be neutralized by addition of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide.
