- Benzonitrile, 3-Amino-4-Fluoro-
3-Amino-4-fluorobenzonitrile is an antagonist that inhibits the activity of cytochrome P450. It binds to the heme moiety of cytochrome P450, which prevents electron transfer and the formation of reactive oxygen species. 3-Amino-4-fluorobenzonitrile has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation in mammals, but does not affect nitric oxide production or thromboxane synthesis. 3-Amino-4-fluorobenzonitrile also selectively inhibits the activity of human cytochrome P450s, but not isozymes from other species such as rat, mouse, guinea pig, dog, or monkey. The drug has been shown to be toxicologically safe in animals and humans.
