2-Amino-3-fluorobenzoic acid is a covid-19 pandemic anti-infective agent that has been shown to modulate the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. It has been shown to be effective in preventing the spread of influenza A (H1N1) and other flu strains, as well as the related H5N1 avian flu. 2-Amino-3-fluorobenzoic acid is an organofluorine compound with a five membered ring and fluorine atom in the para position. 2-Amino-3-fluorobenzoic acid binds to the ligand binding site of the acetylcholine receptor, which is found on nerve cells. The drug competitively inhibits acetylcholine's binding to this site, preventing activation of the receptor and blocking transmission of nerve impulses across synapses.
