Acicerone is a natural product that is derived from the Astragalus species. It contains biochanin and saponins, which are natural products with hepatoprotective effects, as well as flavonoids, which have antioxidant properties. Acicerone also contains isoflavones and isoflavonoids, which are substances that have been shown to possess anticancer properties. Acicerone has been shown to be effective in treating photosensitized dermatitis in mice by reducing the production of reactive oxygen species. Acicerone has also been found to be an endemism of temperate regions, such as North America and Europe.
