Descripción:4-Acetamidobenzyl alcohol is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water. It is used as a reagent in organic synthesis, and also as a chemical intermediate. 4-Acetamidobenzyl alcohol has been shown to catalyze the oxidation of potassium with liquid phase oxygen. The mechanism of this reaction may be due to an amidation followed by an oxidative deamination or an oxidative decarboxylation of the amide. 4-Acetamidobenzyl alcohol has been shown to oxidize primary alcohols in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, yielding an acetaldehyde and a ketone.
