2'-Acetylacteoside is a chinese herb that has antioxidative activity. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of ecotypes and can be used for the treatment of microbial infections. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on echinacoside, an anti-inflammatory component in plants. The terminal sugar in 2'-acetylacteoside is a glucose molecule with two acetate groups. Microbial metabolism of 2'-acetylacteoside leads to the formation of radicals, which can be scavenged by this compound. Animal studies show that 2'-acetylacteoside inhibits rat liver microsomes, fetal bovine serum, and muscle cell proliferation.
