(4-Amino-2-fluorophenyl)methanol is a cytotoxic agent that inhibits the growth of tumor cells by acting as a prodrug. It becomes activated in cells to generate reactive intermediates that bind covalently to DNA, RNA, and proteins. (4-Amino-2-fluorophenyl)methanol has been shown to be cytotoxic against DU145 prostate cancer cells and hepatocytes. This compound has also been shown to have an antigenic effect on mouse lymphoma cells. The reactivity of this drug can be optimized by the addition of methides which can be conjugated with the drug.
