N-Methylbenzenesulfonamide has been shown to exhibit potent cardiac activity at high concentrations and has been used as an experimental drug for the treatment of heart conditions. The rate constant for its second-order reaction with hydrogen chloride was determined to be 0.0169/sec at 25°C using cellulose acetate as the substrate. N-Methylbenzenesulfonamide is a stable molecule that will not react with other molecules until it reaches temperatures over 300 degrees Celsius or solvents such as water or alcohols. This chemical also interacts with most other molecules except for those containing nitrogen or oxygen atoms.
