Descripción

Isoelemicin is a terpene with potent inhibitory activity against bacterial growth. This compound is produced by the fungus Pestalotiopsis sp. and has been shown to have biological properties in humans. Isoelemicin inhibits IL-10 production, an anti-inflammatory cytokine that promotes immune response, in vitro. It also inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-12 and IFN-γ in mice. Isoelemicin has been found to be active against Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, which can cause pneumonia and other infections.
