Benzyltrimethylammonium bromide is a surfactant that is used as a surface active agent. It is composed of benzyltrimethylammonium hydroxide and sodium citrate. Benzyltrimethylammonium bromide has been shown to have the ability to bind to biological samples, such as chloride and ammonium ions. In addition, it has been shown to cause toxicity in rats; however, it does not affect the glomerular filtration rate or intramolecular hydrogen bonding.
