3-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-1-propanol (3MP) is a chemical that binds to adrenergic receptors and activates them by binding to the alpha-2 receptor. 3MP can be synthesized from trifluoride and an acid or it can be found as a reaction product of fatty acids. The reaction rate of 3MP is inhibited by the presence of other compounds, such as phenylpropanoids or cleavage products. This chemical has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on enzyme activities such as phosphodiesterase, monoamine oxidase, and cyclooxygenase. 3MP also acts as an agonist at these receptors, which causes a release of adrenaline in the body.
