It works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, which are chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation. 2-(2,3-Dihydro-1H-inden-5-yl)acetic acid has been found to be effective in relieving pain and inflammation in a variety of conditions including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis. The drug also has a role in preventing the formation of kidney stones because it prevents calcium oxalate crystals from forming.
