2-Methyl-3-(para-methoxyphenyl)-propanal is an inorganic base that is a silicone. It is used as a cationic surfactant and catalytic asymmetric synthesis of feedstocks, methyl anthranilate, acid catalyst, sugar alcohols, and radiation. 2-Methyl-3-(para-methoxyphenyl)-propanal has shown to be effective in the production of aldehydes from biomass and has also been studied as an odorant receptor activator. CD1 mice were able to detect this compound at concentrations as low as 0.001 ppm.
