Descripción:2-(1,3-Thiazol-5-yl)ethan-1-ol is a primary alcohol that is used as an organic solvent in reactions involving bichromate and hydrogen peroxide. 2-(1,3-Thiazol-5-yl)ethan-1-ol can be oxidized by chromium to produce the chromium(VI) oxide. This compound has two substituents, a hydroxyl group and a thiazole ring. The hydroxyl group is a hydrogen atom bound to a single oxygen atom, while the thiazole ring is composed of one nitrogen atom and three carbon atoms. Hydrogen atoms are bound to each of these atoms. The hydroxyl group makes this compound an alcohol while the thiazole ring makes it an organic solvent.
