2'-Methoxy-1'-acetonaphthone is a reaction product of acetylation with triflic acid. In this reaction, the nucleophilic oxygen atom of the hydroxyl group forms a covalent bond with the electrophilic carbon atom of the carbonyl group. This reaction produces two isomers that differ in configuration and reactivity.
