C18:1-Ceramide is a fluorescent probe that belongs to the group of hydroxyl group-containing compounds. It is capable of inhibiting fatty acid transport at low concentrations, but has no effect on protein synthesis. C18:1-Ceramide has been shown to be effective in the structural analysis of cells and tissues, as well as in acidic ph conditions. The phase transition temperature for this compound is around -3°C. It displays a high potency at low concentrations, which makes it an attractive candidate for use as a fluorescent probe in biological studies.
