2-Bromopropane is a liquid chemical that is used in wastewater treatment. It has been shown to cause physiological effects on the body, such as autoimmune diseases. The antibody response of 2-bromopropane has also been studied and found to be similar to the way antibodies are produced in testicular cancer patients. X-ray crystal structures have revealed the molecular interactions between the molecule and mitochondrial membrane potential, which may lead to information about how 2-bromopropane affects mitochondrial function. A control group was used when conducting an experiment with glycol ethers and analytical methods were used for sample preparation in order to determine if there are any receptors for 2-bromopropane. The mechanism of reaction for 2-bromopropane has not yet been determined, but it is hypothesized that it reacts with isopropyl alcohol.
