Descripción:1,2-Bis-(bromoacetoxy)-propane is a halogenated organic solvent that can be used as an antiseptic. It has a potency of 1.5 x 10 M and is active against bacteria, fungi, and viruses. 1,2-Bis-(bromoacetoxy)-propane has been shown to have synergistic effects when combined with other germicides such as sodium hypochlorite or phenol. This chemical is hydrophilic and can target low dosage sterilization methods on lignin. The mechanism of action for this chemical is not well understood but it may work by disrupting the cell membrane or by interfering with protein synthesis.
