3-Butyn-2-OL is a chemical compound that can be used in synthetic chemistry. It is an organic compound with the molecular formula CHCHCHOH. 3-Butyn-2-OL is a colorless liquid with a sweet and fruity odor. The molecule consists of three butyl groups bound to two carbons, one oxygen, and one hydrogen atom. Vibrational spectroscopy reveals that the proton on the methyl group rotates rapidly around its equilibrium position, which may account for its distinctive vibrational frequency. 3-Butyn-2-OL reacts with palladium complexes to form covalent bonds. This reaction is selective because it does not react with chloride ions or other metals present in the solution, such as titanium and iron.
