S-(+)-Benzyl glycidyl ether is a chiral epoxide that is synthesized using an asymmetric synthesis. It can be used as an intermediate for the synthesis of amides or other organic compounds. S-(+)-Benzyl glycidyl ether can be obtained by reacting hydrogen peroxide with epichlorohydrin in the presence of an enantiomerically pure amine such as (R) -α-methylbenzylamine. S-(+)-Benzyl glycidyl ether has been found to have anti-inflammatory properties and is currently being investigated for its potential therapeutic use in psoralea corylifolia allergic asthma.
