8-Bromoquinoline is a molecule that can be synthesized by the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling of methyl alcohol and a metal ion. This reaction produces an 8-bromoquinoline as the product. The synthesis of 8-bromoquinoline is catalyzed by a palladium salt and sodium carbonate, and is performed in two steps. The first step involves the addition of bromine to the methyl alcohol, which produces an intermediate called bromomethyl alcohol. The second step involves adding chloride to produce 8-broniomethyl quinoline. Ethylene diamine is used as a ligand, while carbon tetrachloride is used as a solvent for this reaction.
