Descripción:Bromothymol blue is a water-soluble dye that has been used for the detection of acidic substances. It is also used as a fluorescence probe in biological studies and wastewater treatment, as well as in the measurement of nitrite ion concentration. Bromothymol blue has shown antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi. This dye binds to hydrogen bonding interactions, which are found on the surface of many microorganisms, including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans. The phase transition temperature of bromothymol blue is at around 50°C, so it remains stable in most environments.
