Descripción:8-Bromotheophylline is a drug that binds to adenosine receptors and prevents the reuptake of adenosine, which leads to an increase in the concentration of adenosine at the receptor. It has been shown to inhibit the enzyme phosphodiesterase and potassium ion channels, leading to increased concentrations of serotonin in the brain. 8-Bromotheophylline is used for treating psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia and depression. 8-Bromotheophylline also has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases, including tuberculosis and infections caused by bacteria that are resistant to penicillin and erythromycin.
