2-Butoxybenzaldehyde is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CH(COCH)CHO. It is an aromatic aldehyde that can be synthesized by reacting hexamethylenetetramine with ethylene glycol in the presence of a base. 2-Butoxybenzaldehyde has been shown to be a good initiator for polymerization reactions of olefins and epoxides, as well as for catalytic asymmetric synthesis. It is also used as a ligand in low molecular weight chiral complexes and hydrochloric acid monomers.
