4-Bromophenylmethylamine is an organic compound that has anti-inflammatory properties and is used as a pharmaceutical. It belongs to the group of amines. The hydrolysis of 4-bromophenylmethylamine by hydrochloric acid produces phenol and bromamine (NHBr). The reaction system can be used to synthesize a number of compounds, including anilines, benzofurans, and other aromatic compounds. 4-Bromophenylmethylamine reacts with muscle tissue in a similar manner as acetaminophen does. This drug also has been shown to have significant effects on the energy metabolism in the muscles of rats that are given carbon source.
