2-(4-Bromophenyl)-1H-benzimidazole is a benzene with a bromine substituent. It is a ligand in coordination chemistry. The acetylacetonate anion coordinates to the metal ion, which can be replaced by other anions such as oxalate, carbonate, or nitrate. 2-(4-Bromophenyl)-1H-benzimidazole has been found to have photophysical and vibrational properties that are sensitive to the orientation of the molecule. The dihedral angles of this molecule are flexible and allow for conformations with different contact distances between the methyl group and the benzene ring. 2-(4-Bromophenyl)-1H-benzimidazole's conformation is dependent on the interaction between its ligands and ancillary groups.
