3-Bromo-5-chloroaniline is a halogen that has been used to label the NMDA receptor. It is a nucleophilic reagent that reacts with secondary amines, including the amino groups of proteins, to form a 3-bromo-5-chloroaniline ester. This reaction can be visualized using Uv detection and nmda receptor visualization. The specific activity of 3-Bromo-5-chloroaniline is 10 Ci/mmol. Radioligand labelling is used to quantify the binding of 3-Bromo-5-chloroaniline to receptors in the brain. This technique can be used to measure the amount of NMDA receptors present in rat brains following administration of drugs such as phencyclidine (PCP).
