2-Bromo-4-methylbenzoic acid is a bioactive molecule that has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme Dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV), which is involved in the post-proline cleavage of dipeptides. 2-Bromo-4-methylbenzoic acid has been shown to have oral anti-diabetic properties and can be used as an insulin sensitiser. This compound also has potency against cancer cells, inhibiting proliferation and inducing apoptosis. 2-Bromo-4-methylbenzoic acid is bioavailable and can be synthesised from deoxybenzoin, chlorides, and methyl derivatives. It can also be made by condensation of two molecules of 4-(chloromethyl) benzoic acid or 3,5-(dimethyl) benzaldehyde with one molecule of ethylene glycol. It is an analogue of 2,3,4,
