Descripción

2-[3-(2H-Benzotriazol-2-yl)-4-hydroxyphenyl]ethyl methacrylate is a monomer that belongs to the class of cross-linking agents. It is used as an absorber and polymerization initiator for polyvinyl compounds. This monomer has been shown to have photochemical properties, such as the ability to absorb ultraviolet light and copolymerize with methylmethacrylate. The polymerized product exhibits a morphology that is dependent on the ratio of 2-[3-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-4-hydroxyphenyl]ethyl methacrylate and methylmethacrylate in the mixture. When exposed to UV radiation, this compound undergoes photooxidation, which leads to a change in its molecular structure.
