(2S,5S)-(-)-2-tert-Butyl-3-methyl-5-benzyl-4-imidazolidinone is an aldehyde that belongs to the class of imidazolidinones. It is an experimental compound for the treatment of cancer. The mechanism of action has been shown using a butyric acid molecule and alkylation process. This protonated compound can be hydrolyzed to form an iminium ion, which undergoes a transition state with the water molecule. The electron from the water molecule then transfers back to the proton on the iminium ion and releases energy in the form of heat.
