Bisphenol a is an organic compound that is used as a reactive, cross-linking agent for polymers. The hydroxy group on bisphenol A reacts with the diene in the polymer to form a new bond. This reaction leads to formation of nanotubes and films. Bisphenol A bisallylether is used in magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) as a contrast agent. MRS can be used to study the physical properties of solids, liquids, or gases. Aliphatic hydrocarbons are found in petroleum products and can be obtained by cracking or distillation. Hydrocarbons are also present in coal tar and shale oil deposits.
