1-Bromo-3,5-dichlorobenzene (1,3,5-trichlorobenzene) is a chlorinated aromatic compound that is used as a raw material for the production of medicines. The 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene molecule contains three chlorine atoms and one carbon atom. It has two pairs of possible isomers: ortho and para. Ortho 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene is an effective solvent for hydrochloric acid and carbon tetrachloride. Para 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene is used in the manufacture of certain medicines. This chemical substance can be found in lettuce due to environmental pollution by chlorinated hydrocarbons such as PCBs or DDT. Para 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene may also be found in the environment due to its use as a polymer film stabilizer in the manufacture
